Job Kawapit was born in 1945 in the bush east of Whapmagoostui, Hudson Bay, Quebec. He grew up on the land and learned the ways of the Cree people. He taught Cree language and culture in Whapmagoostui for many years. He also an avid storyteller and is keen on the preservation of Cree stories and legends. Both Job and his wife Mary remain active in teaching young people the Cree language and traditional lifestyle during excursions out on the land and in the community. |
