George tells a story of his life in the past. His family experienced hunger. They had cached food for the winter but crows and foxes ate everything from the cache. His family camped with people from Whapmagoostui at Apishikimiish (Lac Bienville). As they move further east towards Mistisiipii (George River), they meet up with Montagnais people from Waashaau (Sept Isles?). The Montagnais family was starving. George mentioned that it was hard to communicate with them. George helped the Montagnais by giving them some fish to use as bait for their fish hooks.

George talks about the preparation for the winter. They caught fish first before trapping to make sure they had food. The men set the nets under the ice and the women checked them. The men trapped far from camp. The men also hunted big game. If they camped at a good fishing lake, they did well. If there were no caribou, they lived on fish. In the spring, geese and ducks were hunted. In the summer, they paddled to Fort George. If they had killed big game, a feast was held. Josie Sam Sr. asks a few questions about the singing at feasts and types of lodges made in the past.
