George tells the story of a year living in the bush. His family left Fort George and paddled inland. They paddled up the river towards George River. He killed two black bears that fall. They fished at Kaawaawaayaapiskaau as the ice formed. Fish was scarce and they had a hard time catching fish. When they moved to another lake, they caught more fish. One night, a man from Waashaau arrives at their camp. They were able to give him some supplies. He mentions it was the year the Queen`s father`s father died (circa 1936). |
